Intro:
Last week dealt with self & carnality- was it produces.
* Hopefully tonight understand just how important the
church is to God!
Some Observations:
I. You are a workman on the greatest building project
ever (3:10)
A. We all
have a different ___________________________________ in
the church.
II. Every
workman has a great responsibility (3:10c)
A. "Take
heed"- ________________________. HOW
Eph 4:16 (v11ff) "the body fitly joined together…"
EVERY part is important.
III. You
have the opportunity to build upon a solid foundation!
(3:11-15) (Jesus Christ)
A. Take
WHAT you build on that foundation (3:12) Context- local
church
1. Not how you are living your life- but what are you
building on the foundation of your local church?
- What are you doing positively to construct lives- (not
what have you stopped doing)
2. The commodities to build with…
a. Gold- divinity, (2 Pe 1:3, 4 "partakers of the
divine nature…") not because what we did but
what He did.
b. Silver- redemption, salvation from slavery- as you
witness you bring the price of redemption - add silver
to that foundation.
c. Precious stones- people - 1 Pe. 2:3-8 the temple God's
building project.
Eph 4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out
of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying,
that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
4. The
building inspector is coming (3:13-15) "Bema"-
(a place of rewards not judgment)
IV. You have a solemn warning on God's greatest building
project (3:16-17) to local church
A. Be careful
how you enter into the building project-
1. Carnally (gossip, lying, critically…) God will
destroy
2. Spiritually
Conclusion:
We need to take every opportunity to build up the church
for our Saviour.
