the power to heal relationships
1 Corinthians 1:10-18
11-15-06 Wed.
I. The ideal
biblical perspective of God's plan for relationships
A. Where we all _____________ "beseech" not
command. (1:10)
B. In the name of the Lord (10b) the _____________ to
Him not to
Paul.
- God's testimony on the line not just your feelings.
C. See How Paul instructs them to pull together (1:10c)
1. Speaking the _____________ - agreed about God's truth.
*Acts 2:42 see true biblical fellowship is IMPOSSIBLE
without a
biblical foundation!
-An agreement about the basics (not just great music,
emotions, praising)!
*Biblical Discipleship!
* ______________ is fine - ______________ is sin!
1. (1:10:d) "no divisions among you" cp 1 Cor
12:25 "schism" same
word division
2. (1:10d) perfectly joined together - same MIND, same
JUDGMENT
- Same Mind= _______________________________________
- Same judgment= __________________________________
* "perfectly joined" - sewing term; any tears
among to be patched up.
* How do you do that?
Eph 4:3; Eph 4:11-13; Eph 4:14-16 (especially 14a)
Where does this happen? IN the body of Christ-
-Congregation Sunday. Wednesday smaller groups- care circles
* Must have this kind of participation to develop unity.
* People will get hurt - even in church; but we are ALL
a work in progress.
* People won't come here if WE can't love each other!
II. We need
to diagnose the __________________ that destroys relationships.
*Let's do a diagnostic test here:
1. Diagnostic test #1 -Beware of an attitude that puts
_________________
(1:11) "contention"
See Gal 5:19-20a "variance" not on the same
wave length; at odds
with each other…James 4:1
*When saved people don't get along there is ONE cause
Carnality/flesh
2. Diagnostic test #2 (1:12-13) beware of people who put
_______________
3. Diagnostic test #3 (1:14-16) beware of people that
put a _________________ - We DON"T have any sacraments
at Paradise…
-"Sacrament"= _______________________________________
-Celebrate the Lord's Supper- a memorial (no special energy
from
God)
- an Ordinance (an observation)
III. The heart of the matter (1:17-18)
A. The return to a Christ centered life is what gives
us victory in relationships
1. Mission NOT to go into the world and have warm fuzzy
relationships
2. (1:18) It is the power of God
Note: Two key elements to our relationship to Christ:
1. The blood - it is for our justification (for our sins)
2. The cross - it is for our deliverance (for our nature)
sin nature
* The blood doesn't take us out of ADAM, but the cross
does.
Romans 6:1-6
* The reason for messed-up relationships- is carnality
The healing for those relationships - is the cross
