You Stink!
Colossians 3:8-14
August 30, 2006

Our flesh stinks. Living in the flesh is like body odor and bad breath, it may not bother the one that has it, but it’s killing everyone else. When we choose to please ourselves, to justify ourselves, or attempt to meet our needs without God, we are putting on the deeds of the old man, not the new man. As we have studied, Christ is preeminent in all things. If our lives are to reflect His preeminence, we need to change our spiritual clothes. Put off the stinking things of the flesh and put on the sweet smelling things of the Spirit.

Choose to put off the __________ ___________ of the old man vs. 8
Remember you have already put off the __________ of the old man vs. 9
Remember you have already put on the __________ of the new man vs. 10-11
Choose to put on the ___________ ___________ of the new man vs. 12-14

Application steps:
  • I will remove any thought or deed that is displeasing to God
  • I will live out the change that Christ has made in my life
  • I will not allow the stink of the world to get back on me
  • I will choose to live as a holy and beloved child of God
