Colossians 3:1-7
August 23, 2006
As
we have studied the Book of Colossians we have seen that Christ
is preeminent in all things. But how do we display the preeminence
of Christ in our lives? It is like playing volleyball. First
you seek out the ball, then, you set up the shot and finally,
go for the kill. For Christ to have first place in our lives,
we are instructed to seek
the right things, set our affection on the right things and
then kill off any area of our lives that is displeasing to God.
As God changes us, His preeminence is displayed to those around
us.
“Seek
those things which are above” vs. 1
“Set your affection on things above” vs. 2-4
“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth”
vs. 5-7
Application
steps:
I
will give Christ first place in all I say, do and think
I will seek to lay up treasure in heaven
I will set my mind on eternal things
I will remove any thought or deed that is displeasing to God
